Context

The EU’s Common Agricultural Policy Network (EU CAP Network) was set up in 2022 by the European Commission to optimise the flow of information about agriculture and rural policy within the EU.

One of the three main goals of the EU CAP Network is to foster innovation, knowledge exchange and EIP-AGRI to inform, engage, connect and inspire farmers, foresters, advisors, researchers, business representatives, environmental groups and many other experts and innovators across Europe.

The European Innovation Partnership for Agricultural Productivity and Sustainability (EIP-AGRI) was launched by the European Commission in 2012 and designed as a tool to speed up innovation in EU agriculture and forestry. In October 2022, the EIP-AGRI network merged into the EU CAP Network.

Actions

The EU CAP Network offers the following services to support innovation, knowledge exchange and EIP-AGRI in European agriculture, forestry and rural areas:

  • Networking activities such as Focus Groups, workshops and seminars, cross-visits and brokerage events to connect people from practice and research to foster knowledge exchange and innovation.
  • Informing, inspiring and sharing innovation through publications, a monthly newsletter, an annual magazine, social media and press releases.
  • Collecting and analysing information on Operational Groups and EU-funded research and innovation projects, to identify potential synergies and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Gathering needs from practice for further research, feeding into the research agenda at EU and national level, to help close the gap between research and practice.
  • A helpdesk to answer any questions.

As one of the consortium members of the EU CAP Network, AC3A has members of staff directly involved in the day-to-day activities of the Support Facility.
