Agriculture and the agri-food industry are very important economically for the Pays de la Loire region: financially and in terms of employment. In fact this sector is the leading economic sector in the region. Regional agriculture contributes significantly to food production and therefore to national food. The region produces a wide variety of products, and for many of them (fruit, eggs, milk, meat, etc.) they exceeds 10% of national production. Meat is particularly important. However, the region is also responsible and attentive to the environment, by developing production under quality labels, organic farming in particular, by controlling the use of chemical inputs and by developing ecologically sensitive areas.
The Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Pays de la Loire actively participates in many European projects which contribute to its objectives for agriculture in the region. It shares its know-how in an international context and benefits in return from privileged access to European best practices and from the development of the skills of employees involved in projects.
To do this, it relies on its organisation within the Atlantic Arc, with AC3A, and at national level with the ‘Unité Mixte de Service Appels à Projets Innovation Europe (UMS APIE)’ set up by APCA and ACTA.
The Chamber of Agriculture of this region is involved in the following projects with AC3A:
